The Department of Anesthesia is committed to research. Dr. Timothy J. Brennan, M.D., Ph.D., Samir D. Gergis Professor of Anesthesia, is the Vice Chair for Research. Faculty members in the Department complete a variety of research projects, ranging from basic science pain studies to human clinical trials. The Department has received grants from many sources; currently our research is supported by NIH, the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research, and health care contracts. For some studies, support is provided by the Department of Anesthesia.
