Center for Pain Medicine and Regional Anesthesia

The Center for Pain Medicine and Regional Anesthesia objective is to provide pain management for patients with prolonged, treatment-resistant pain. Patients have frequently been evaluated and treated elsewhere without success before they are seen here. Evaluation and treatment programs utilize an interdisciplinary approach that includes specialists in pain medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, oncology, gynecology, pediatrics, and alternative medicine, amongst others. We offer no guarantee of pain relief but work with patients and their families to explore options designed to maximize quality of life and overall function.

Operations Research

Operations Research performs research into the development and implementation of quantitative methods to reduce peri-operative costs. Techniques involving discrete-event and Monte-Carlo computer simulation, operations research, and statistical analyses of discharge and operating room databases are used to study the mathematics and economics of operating room efficiency, staffing, scheduling, workload, case duration predictions, etc. We work with hospitals, anesthesia groups, and industries worldwide to help them implement the latest methods for efficient delivery of operating room and anesthesia services.

Patient Simulator Center

Our Patient Simulator Center  provides a safe place to practice putting basic knowledge and skills to use in the delivery of quality anesthesia care. These medical knowledge training sessions focus on both routine and highly unusal anesthetic cases. Much like mom told you about piano lessons or spelling tests, practice really does make a big difference!
